Tarot Card Predictions – How Far Can You See?

When we do a reading, most clients want to know ‘when’ so-and-so event is going to happen. For example, clients want to know when they will get married, or when they will get that promotion.
It makes sense at this point to help the clients frame their question. My honest opinion in this aspect is that Tarot does not tell you when – it can guide you as to how. The ‘when’ aspect can be highlighted only if you give the cards the guiding framework of a timeline. Instead of asking when, I help the clients re-phrase the question and ask if something is going to happen within the next six months. I also tell the clients that if they want to know the ‘when’ factor, they can go to a proper astrologer. Still, from what little I know of astrology, they too cannot be accurate about the ‘when’ bit. They can tell you when a favorable time will present itself so that you can take the necessary action to make it happen.
No matter where one goes for guidance, nothing can manifest without any action. Tarot can guide you about the action bit.
So we come back to the question – ‘How far into the future can the Tarot cards see?’
The reason is fairly straightforward. Tarot is more ‘in the present’. When we do readings, we are tapping into the energies of the present – they give us the threads of the past events shaping this present, and then lead us into the future. This future depends a lot on the present. Events going on in the present will, naturally, cause the future events to shape up. This is why Tarot cannot give any accurate long-term predictions.
The Tarot card predictions, as such, can be relevant to the next couple of months, and maximum to the next six months. If we do ask the cards to provide us with a more long-term guidance, they can do that. But they will only give the highlights of the story. They cannot give the detailed version of the story. If a client is happy with that, then OK. But otherwise, a more detailed and accurate guidance / prediction can be obtained only in the short term.

What You Can Learn From A Tarot Card Reading

There are many different things that you can learn from a Tarot card reading. Often taken lightly or as a joke, a Tarot card reading, when done properly, can serve as a very useful tool for helping one plan ahead, consider various options and get a lot of information about a situation or a question one is facing.
In today’s post, I am going to highlight some of the important things that one can learn from a Tarot card reading.
A Tarot card reading serves as a guiding tool for many. Very typically, a reading can give us a lot of information that helps us take decisions that are more aligned with our life’s purpose. Some of the things you can learn from Tarot card readings include:
  • Perspectives – Tarot card readings can offer you a perspective that is quite different from your own, and help you see things differently.
  • Options – A Tarot card reading can help you evaluate the different options in front of you, so that you can choose something that is more aligned with your goals and purposes.
  • Guidance – Tarot cards provide all kinds of valuable guidance and advice that can help you understand your self better, and find the path towards a more fulfilled and abundant life.
  • Creative Approaches – With a Tarot card reading, you can explore many different creative paths and approaches towards resolving your problems and questions, and that too in a fun, interactive way.
  • Deeper Information and Insight – And of course, the cards provide you with a deeper look into your scenario, helping you evaluate your situation more practically and insightfully.
Lets look at each aspect in a little bit more detail.

What You Can Learn From A Tarot Card Reading: Perspectives

perspectivesAn old saying tells us that it is often very difficult to see something that is right in front of our noses.
And it is very, very true.
When you are close to an issue or a problem, or if some such scenario is evolving all around you, you are often not able to see things clearly.
It is at such a time that seeing things from another perspective can help us make sense of the different goings on. Another perspective brings in another set of eyes to look at the issue from a detached, uninvolved perspective that often helps us see things more clearly.
A Tarot card reading can also offer you a ‘big picture’ perspective on issues that might help you to place an event or scenario within a particular context, thus helping you to find balance in your approach towards resolving it.

What You Can Learn From A Tarot Card Reading: Options

many optionsOne of the best applications of Tarot card readings is the process of evaluating options. What if you have two very good job offers and you want to know which one will be better suited to help you achieve your long term career goals? Or how about a situation where you have to choose from among two or three different options, either of which will lead your life down different paths?
In each such scenario, Tarot cards can help you evaluate your options. You can learn about how your life will shape up if you choose either option – thus leaving you with full control over your life, and allowing you to choose an option that is more aligned with your goals!

What You Can Learn From A Tarot Card Reading: Guidance

The Tarot cards can also open up many different aspects of your life to deeper scrutiny, thus helping you understand yourself better. Knowing yourself is the first step towards understanding yourself and accepting yourself, and eventually loving yourself for who and what you are.
This process can also help you identify the different destructive or repetitive patterns in your life, and the lessons you are supposed to learn from them, thus helping to clear out your karmic burdens and find a path to a more fulfilled and happy life.
Tarot card readings can also help you to achieve your goals. You can ask the cards simply ‘how’ you can go about reaching a particular goal in your life, and they will tell you how to go about it in a no-nonsense, practical way.

What You Can Learn From A Tarot Card Reading: Creative Approaches

A Tarot card reading is not just about deep introspective, serious stuff. It can be a lot of fun too! There are many interactive and creative ways in which cards can help you unlock your mind’s inner recesses and help you see things about yourself. Several of these methods can be found in the book 21 Ways To Read The Tarot Cards, and I have used these ways in actual, professional Tarot card readings to great benefit.
Tarot cards can also have many creative uses as well. For example, I have often pulled out a card (or two) when I find myself stuck while writing my novel. The more ways you can think of applying the cards, the more ways you can find creative inputs and insights from them.

What You Can Learn From A Tarot Card Reading: Deeper Information and Insight

Tarot card readings can also help you to learn more about a scenario or situation in your life. You can thus analyze a situation from several different angles, looking at both the ‘macro’ and ‘micro’ aspects of the situation at the same time.
The cards help you learn more about a question or situation, while helping you gain a lot of insight into the matter at hand. Armed with this information, you can easily take the next step(s) of your life with confidence and thus get closer to achieving your long-term goals.

Your Turn / In Conclusion…

There are so many things one can learn from a Tarot card reading! Simply finding out about the future is merely the tip of the iceberg – a Tarot card reading can give so much more guidance and insight! So go ahead and ask the cards your questions and learn how you can create a more abundant, and fulfilling life for yourself.

How To Increase The Accuracy Of Your Tarot Card Reading

Reading Tarot cards for friends, family membersstrangers and even yourself, is a process in itself. However, once you get going, one of the things you begin to wonder about is how to increase the accuracy of your Tarot card reading.
While there isn’t a quick-fix method to increase the accuracy of your Tarot card reading, there are some ways (its a process really) in which you can slowly, but surely, get to that point.
Over the years, reading Tarot cards for all kinds of people has given me a deeper insight into the various facets of human life and the human psyche. Plus, I have always considered my intuition to be the strongest guiding force, especially while doing readings. These tips and how-tos have been born purely from those experiences and insights. So, without any further ado, lets dive right into the heart of the matter.
Here are a few ways in which you can increase the accuracy of your Tarot card reading:

1. Frame The Questions Correctly

Before you ask a question of the cards, it is very important to frame the question properly. Improperly framed, confusing questions can give confusing answers. Literally.
For example, if you ask the cards a question like ‘Will I get a job?’, chances are they are going to tell you that you will – because, essentially, at some point you will get a job. But then, you still remain confused: will you get the job today, or tomorrow, or next month or next year? So if you modify the question and instead ask the cards ‘Will I get a job in the next three months?’, you stand a chance of getting a clearer answer.
In my experience, if you want to ask the cards a question that involves a time frame, then it is best to include the time frame in the question. Open ended questions often aren’t a pathway for getting precise, accurate answers.

2. Practice, Practice, Practice

Yes! This is the best way to get your psychic muscle going! The more you exercise your reading skills, your intuition, and your psychic muscle, the better they are going to get. And yes, there are ways to get this practice. They are:

2.1. Reading For A Variety of Clients

The more different types of people you read for, the better you are going to get with your reading accuracy. Different type of people mean dealing with  / handling different kinds of energies, questions and situations. This kind of variety ensures that you get an all-round Tarot reading experience. And yes, this will help increase the accuracy of your Tarot card reading.

2.2. Reading For A Variety of Situations / Scenarios

More of the above, really. Read cards for people who have questions about a variety of situations / scenarios. That way, you get to know how to handle / tackle the reading – maybe you are just using the same spread, but your search for answers has a different flavor, and so you get more familiar with the flexibility of the spread you use. Giving yourself a variety of questions to read for also helps remove the repetitiveness from readings.
For example, if you just keep doing relationship readings, and then one fine day a client walks in with a career related question, you might find it tough to shift your mind towards that question. Hey, it happened to me once! After a spate of relationship readings, I had a client who was focused on his career. Took me a few seconds to bend my mind, but yeah, I realized that I was starting to get stuck in a rut!
Let your mind remain flexible – and to do that, take on different questions to do with different scenarios. This will not only improve the accuracy of your Tarot card readings, but will help you remain open to all kinds of questions and scenarios as well.

2.3. Be Perfect With A Few Chosen Spreads, And Then, Try Something New

Let there be a few spreads that you know inside-out. For example, I use 3 spreads most often to answer most of the questions that are put to me during readings: one is the Bird Spread which I use for the General Reading, and then I have a 7 card Horseshoe Spread, and a Yes-No spread. And yes, I know these spreads so well, that I lay them out without thinking – they are as instinctive as breathing.
But then, I do find a few innovative spreads here and there, and I keep a clipping / print out / drawing of it in my spreads folder, you know, just in case I need them some day. And then one day, the right situation with the right question pops up, and I get a chance to use that spread! Once I do the spread a couple of times for a couple of different clients, I become familiar with the spread, and may experiment with it a bit more. All this experimenting surely helps improve the accuracy of your Tarot card reading.

2.4. Adopt Creative Reading Styles

Oh yeah! This makes the reading ever so interesting – both for you as a reader, and also for your client. Sometimes, it might even be a great way to ‘dazzle’ your client too! This is a call that you as a reader need to take. Some clients are more than happy to try something creative, while some clients aren’t really open to it. As I tell my students, your intuition will guide you in this decision.
In my experience, I have met both kinds of clients – those who are open to creative readings, and those who aren’t.
There can be a number of creative readings that you can do in these cases, and I feel that as a reader, you have to be open to experimenting with such readings as well. As such, these readings are very interesting, and help you to expand the focus and approach of your reading style, giving you a unique perspective on the reading question(s) that you are handling.

3. Client Feedback

Speak AloudThis is also a very important aspect of getting to improve the accuracy of your reading.
Many a times, as a reader, you do your reading and the client goes away. It isn’t often that a client calls you back to let you know whether what you said in the reading came true or not. So, I tell all my clients to keep in touch and let me know how things work out. Still, I also follow up with them to find out. Naturally, if some things are to happen after some time, then you will find out after that time. But getting that information is very useful.
Feedback, both positive and negative, can help you understand where you were on the right path and where you weren’t. In my experience, the times where I have let my logic rule the argument over my intuition have been the times where I went off. ðŸ™‚ Sometimes your logical mind will tell you that such-and-such an event has no probability of happening, but your intuition is screaming at you that it will. At one point, I began telling the client what is going on – I told them that my logical mind says this, and my intuition is saying that, and lets see what happens. And then I got my feedback – whatever my intuition had said was what actually took place. After a number of such experiences, I have stopped doubting my intuition, and just tell my logical mind to remain in the back seat – not an easy task – but  it helps!

The Story of Isis and Osiris

Isis and Osiris: The Happy Days

Osiris and IsisOsiris was the King of Egypt. Isis was his sister. But back then, the Pharaohs used to marry within the family to keep the bloodlines pure. So Isis and Osiris were married.
Osiris and Isis were well loved by the people of Egypt because of various reasons. They were just and good rulers, and most of all they had brought civilization to the barbaric population of the country. Osiris and Isis taught the egyptians how to plant the seeds of wheat, how to tend to the crops, and how to make flour and subsequently bread out of the wheat that they had grown. They also showed the people how to plant grapes and make wine, and make beer from barley.
Egypt was a happy and flourishing country, and everyone was happy.
Osiris then travelled across the world to spread his knowledge and to bring civilization to the rest of the world. And when he was gone, Isis ruled Egypt in his place. She was a good Queen, and was also very well loved by the people.

Isis and Osiris: Enter the Villain

SetNaturally, with all this nice stuff happening in his brother’s kingdom, Set (Osiris’ brother) wasn’t quite happy. He wanted to rule over the kingdom of his brother, but he knew that the only way that he could take over the kingdom was when his brother was dead. So he waited till the time Osiris returned from his travels across the world. And when he did, he put his plan into action.
In order to fulfil his evil plans, Set had made a sarcophagus using the exact measurements of Osiris. And he brought the sarcophagus into the court during the celebrations of Osiris’ return and proclaimed that the sarcophagus was a gift for the one who would fit into it properly. All of the attending Kings tried it, but failed. Finally, when Osiris went and tried it out, it fit him perfectly. Osiris was thrilled, but so was Set.
The moment Set had been waiting for was here, and Set put his plan into motion. His attendants quickly closed the lid of the sarcophagus, nailed it shut and poured boiling lead over it, effectively killing Osiris in the process.
Set then took over the throne of Egypt, becoming the new Pharaoh.
As for the sarcophagus with Osiris’ body – Set had it thrown into the Nile.

Isis and Osiris: The Grief of Isis

Isis searching for OsirisWhen Isis discovered Set’s treachery, she was overcome with grief. She also discovered how the sarcophagus had been thrown into the river Nile. So Isis set out in search of the sarcophagus. She wandered along the banks of the river Nile and cried. All she wanted was to find Osiris’ body and give it a proper burial so that his soul may rest in peace.
Meanwhile, the sarcophagus had flowed along the river, and had gotten entangled in the branches of a bush. Due to Osiris’ great powers, the bush became a beautiful tree. When King Malcander and Queen Astarte of Byblos heard about this wonderful tree, they came to see it. And the King of Byblos ordered the tree to be cut down so that it might be used in one of the pillars in his palace.
As she wandered, Isis heard about the tree and about the King and Queen of Byblos and realized that the pillar in their palace held the sarcophagus of Osiris. She began to wonder how she could get to it. She sat down by the banks of the river Nile and began to think.
Soon enough, the handmaidens of the Queen Astarte came to the river bank to bathe. Isis taught them how to plait their hair, since they didn’t know how to. Then she breathed over the hair, so that when they reached the palace their hair would smell nice. Of course, Queen Astarte was curious about all of this and sent for Isis.
Queen Astarte then asked Isis to serve in her palace and look after her children, to which Isis agreed. Isis would take care of the children by day, and by night she would go to the pillar and mourn the death of her husband. Soon enough, Isis got attached to the baby she was caring for, and decided to make him immortal. So she built a fire and burned off his mortal parts. Then she turned into a swallow and began to fly around the fire.
That night Queen Astarte woke up and decided to investigate the sounds of the fire, and discovered this scene. Seeing her son being burned off, she began to scream. Isis immediately stopped what she was doing and turned into her true form. Queen Astarte immediately realized her mistake, and sought Isis’ forgiveness. Her son wouldn’t be immortal now, but Isis asked for the pillar where Osiris’ sarcophagus had been trapped. Queen Astarte immediately granted Isis request.

Isis and Osiris: It Ain’t Over Yet

Isis LamentingFinally, Isis had the sarcophagus of Osiris. When she opened it and saw Osiris lying dead in it, she let out a loud wail of lament. But eventually, she took the sarcophagus with her and returned to Egypt to give her husband a proper burial.
When Set heard about this, he was furious. He went to the river bed where Isis had just returned, and in a flash of anger opened the sarcophagus and took Osiris’ body. He tore it into fourteen pieces and threw them all over Egypt.
Seeing this dastardly act, Isis grew sad yet again. She cried out for help. Set’s wife, Nephthys came to help her. Along with her came Anubis, the son of Nephthys and Osiris. As they traveled across the land in search of the body parts, they were accompanied by seven scorpions. Wherever they found a part of Osiris’ body, they built an altar. Soon enough all the body parts, except one, had been assembled. The final missing part, the phallus of Osiris, had been thrown into the river and was eaten by a fish.
So Isis took the body parts and used her magic to join the body of Osiris. Then, using the secret name of Ra, she breathed life into him. This time, she had a plan. She spent the night with Osiris, and conceived a child.
Since Osiris had been dead and now had been returned to the land of the living, he went to the Underworld, Duat, and became the ruler of the Underworld.
Meanwhile, Isis went into hiding.

Isis and Osiris: Horus’ Revenge

The Eye of HorusWhile in hiding, Isis gave birth to a son whom she named Horus. Horus grew to be a bright, intelligent and brave young man. And he wanted to avenge his father’s death by killing Set. As he grew up, Osiris often visited his son and taught him many good and useful things and made sure that Horus was capable of defeating Set.
Finally, when Horus was ready to fight Set, Osiris ordered him to gather an army and march on to Set’s kingdom. When Horus was ready with his army, the Sun God Ra visited him so that he could bless Horus. To do that, Ra would have to look into the eyes of Horus.
But Set had come to know of all that was going on. When Ra had just started to look into Horus’ eyes, Set took the form of a huge black boar and passed from there. This distracted Ra, and Set attacked. He sent a flame of fire towards Horus’ eyes, and since Ra wasn’t ready for such an attack, Horus lost his eye. But Ra quickly recovered, and took Horus into a dark room. After a few days, Horus could see again with his one good eye.
Finally, the war began, and Horus took his army to fight Set’s army. In the final battle, Set took the shape of a huge, red hippopotamus and straddled the river Nile, causing a great flood of water to drown Horus’s army. But Horus immediately took the form of a giant young man with a harpoon in his hand. When Set opened his mouth to utter more curses at Horus’ army, Horus immediately sent the harpoon flying. The harpoon went straight into the mouth of the hippopotamus, and Set died on the spot.
With Set’s death, the storm and flood ceased and the people of Egypt began to rejoice.

Isis and Osiris: An Immortal Myth

High PriestessWheel of FortuneThis myth of Isis and Osiris has many shades to it. And several of its shades are seen across some Tarot cards. We see Isis in her veiled beauty in the image of the High Priestess, and we encounter Set, Anubis and Horus on the image of the Wheel of Fortune card.
This immortal myth has many interesting aspects that shed light on the way both Isis and Osiris brought a sense of ‘civilization’ to the population that they reigned over. Perhaps, this is why they were worshipped as Gods.
Such was their legacy that all the Pharaohs and their Queens after them claimed to be the living form of Isis and Osiris.
With their good deeds and their wisdom, (and of course, magical feats), Osiris and Isis have passed into the pantheon of those Gods and Goddesses, whose myths inspire us and enchant us.

What is Tarot Card Reading?

What is Tarot Card Reading

What is Tarot Card Reading

Have you ever seen a friend with a strange deck of cards and wondered what they were for? Chances are they were tarot cards, an amazing way to get extrasensory insight. Have you thought about how to find a tarot card reader?

So what is Tarot Card Reading? Tarot is one of the oldest forms of fortune telling known to man. A tarot deck is a deck of cards, usually 78 cards, that is used by someone who is skilled in the reading of them. Depending on the type of reading that you are wanting to have, the reader will consult the cards to show them what you are needing to know. Tarot cards have been around since the 15th century and are still one of the worlds most common ways of divining into the future.

When someone sits down to do a tarot reading for you, they typically shuffle the deck well while they are concentrating on you or the question that you are wanting to find the answer to. They cut the deck and then begin the reading by laying out a certain number of cards. This number depends on what type of reading that you are having. The number is usually an odd number, though some will use even numbers in certain types of readings.

You are not the only person to wonder what is Tarot Card Reading and what it can do to help you. As the person doing the readings flips the cards, they will tell you what the cards mean and what this could possibly mean for you. Cards from the "major arcana" like The Fool have very specific meanings that your reader will tell you about and let you know what this could mean for your future. Cards from the "minor arcana" like the Ten of Cups could have a more broad meaning. These cards can also accent each other and have different meanings when put together. Now you don't have to wonder how to give a tarot card reading

You don't have to be someone who believes in tarot to benefit from a reading, usually the cards will make a believer out of you. No one has really been able to explain why the cards are able to divine the future. It could be in the cards, but mostly it is the cards in the hands of someone who knows how to use them. You reader should be someone who is experienced in tarot and feels as though their deck is a deck that speaks to them directly.

Everyone has something in their lives they need support for. Sometimes it may seem that there is no solution to be found. But now that you have the answer to the question of what is Tarot Card Reading, you have the key to open that door.

If tarot is a form of psychic reading that you feel close to, you should have a reading done at least once during the four major seasons of the year. They can help you get an outlook on the things to come and actions that you may need to take to prevent disaster. Do Tarot Card Readings Really Work?

Every time I tell someone I am a Tarot card reader, the first question that they ask me is: “Do Tarot card readings really work?”
While this question does bring a lot of snarky, smart-alec-y answers to my mind, I normally try to explain some things to these people. I thought I might just share my thoughts over here…
Well, the short-and-sweet, one word answer to this question is: “Yes!”
Tarot card readings do work. And when done correctly, the Tarot cards can be a huge source of guidance and help. They can also be a great way for exploring a variety of creative thinking processes, which do deliver out-of-the-box answers that make you think along a line that you may never have thought on before.
That being said, lets explore the different reasons why I keep saying that Tarot readings do really work.

Synchronicity

It is a well-known matter of fact that the cards popping up and telling us what is going on is just plain and simple ‘Synchronicity’.
Synchronicity can be defined as “the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.” Carl Jung first described this concept in the 1920s.
Essentially, there are no coincidences.
And no, this isn’t some kind of mumbo-jumbo-weird-magic-type scene either. The cards are simply a reflection of the unconscious mind of the client.
Whatever is going on in the unconscious mind of the person you are reading for will always be accessible through the language of symbols (like in dreams for example) and thus the Tarot cards can be yet another means for accessing this information.

Pictures Speak a Thousand Words

The Tarot cards, as you all may be aware, are full of pictures. The more modern decks (especially those based on the Rider-Waite-Smith pattern) often have pictures of people doing something or the other on them. Plus, the cards are full of different symbols that convey a wealth of meaning.
Even without any knowledge of symbolism, a normal human being can simply see a picture and can often relate what is going on in that picture to something similar going on in his / her life. With a minimum of fuss, these pictures convey a story – they can make one look deep within the intricacies of the situation and help us understand our situations and environment much better.
~
Now, when you put the two aspects of synchronicity and picture-language together, you can easily see why Tarot readings do really work. Not only do they capture the here-and-now scenario of the client’s life, but they also put it in front of you in a symbol-picture format that makes it easy to understand and interpret.
~
And yet, there are some situations where many experience that Tarot card readings haven’t worked. Let’s examine those experiences as well.

Interpretation

As I have mentioned before, the Tarot cards speak in the language of pictures and symbols. And the Tarot card reader interprets them. Each Tarot card reader has her own method of interpretation. He / She is a unique person with different life experiences – which contribute towards shaping his / her voice as a Tarot card reader.
All of this contributes towards creating a very interesting scenario. Every Tarot card reading times every Tarot card reader equals to so many different, and unique interpretative voices.
Amongst all this, it is can happen that a reader might interpret a symbol differently from another. Or a reader can make a mistake. We are all human after all, and this can often lead to a scenario where a Tarot card reading might not be as helpful as one thought.

Scam Artists

This is something that bugs me to no end – especially as a Tarot card reader. I have often visited Tarot card readers to get a reading done for myself. And several of them have tried to get me to pay more money so that they could burn a candle or two to get rid of some ‘bad spirit’ that they see hovering about me. And they didn’t even come close to guessing that I was someone who was also in a similar field of work.
It pains me to say it, but not all Tarot readers are genuine. Some of them are scam artists who just want to rip you off. And if you end up going to them for a reading, you might experience that the reading just did not work.
~
Either an honest mistake in interpretation, or an encounter with a scam artist that will result in a Tarot card reading that just doesn’t work.

Your Turn…

What are your experiences with Tarot card readings? Have they worked in helping you and guiding you towards a better life? Have they been able to help resolve your issues or problems?
Have you had any weird experiences where a reading just hasn’t worked for you at all? What do you think might have been the reason for that?
